I’m so excited about this weather! I know I’ve said it a million times already, but it just makes me giddy. It puts a huge smile on my face when I can leave the windows open at night and sleep soundly. I just love autumn. I love the changes that it brings- the weather, the trees and how the leaves from green to red, yellow, and orange- it all mesmerizes me.
I wanted to create a soundtrack to this beautiful season. I was so inspired by the mix of old and new leaves woven together in the tree branches on the streets and sidewalks. It really is breathtaking to see how much the landscapes changes during this season.
The playlist I created for fall is a lot like the leaves- a handful of some of my old favorites mixed in with some new artists that I’ve completely fallen in love with. I hope that you take the time to enjoy this playlist and share it with your friends. I think it’s the perfect soundtrack to a ride through the mountains.. windows down, of course!
I can’t believe it’s already fall. It seems that it was just yesterday that we were celebrating the warm weather and long summer nights. Now, the leaves have started to turn and fall, the temperatures have dropped (thank goodness!), and so fall begins.
Although tomorrow is officially the first day of the season, it has felt perfect all week here in Nashville. I’ve really enjoyed taking in the cooler air and sipping on pumpkin spice lattes (thanks, Starbucks!).
While a new season begins here in the city, so does a new list of personal goals. There’s a lot that I want to accomplish and experience in the next few months, and I am so excited to see if I can achieve them all!
We all have those days where we have so much on our schedule. If you’re anything like Rosemary & I, most of your days are jam packed.
As much as we like to make lists & to plan out our day, week, month & year (oh my!) the reality is… We are not in control & sometimes you just need to throw those plans aside & fly by the seat of your pants (or in my case, cute vintage dress.)
Today was one of those days for me.
As I was rushing out of my house, running late as usual, I realized too late that my keys were now locked in my house. Keyless & no way in get back into my house or car, I was grateful for the amazingly beautiful day that was before me.
All I can say is my day got moved & shuffled around a bit, but hey… look at the lovely adventure Layla & I would’ve missed out on if my day would’ve gone as I had planned.
I love my new little neighborhood & can’t wait to share all the decorating that each Rosemary & I have been up to at our new home sweet homes! We have so many new projects to share with you!
Here’s to new adventures & appreciating each day we are given!
On a side note: thank goodness I wasn’t wearing pajamas!
A while ago when I visited my cousin Brenda in her beautiful cabin in the mountains, I took note of all of her homemade goodies. She seemed to be constantly in the kitchen making dips, cakes, and a little bit of everything else! I was especially impressed with her homemade dog treats that her dogs loved.
I asked to share her recipe on the blog and she kindly sent it over. Below is the recipe for some dog treats that she has named “Doggone Goodies”. They are super easy to make, and Rubie just can’t get enough of them!
1 lb. of cooked, drained meat (no bones!- beef, tuna, chicken- I used canned tuna)
2 eggs (with shells)
1/2 cup of veggies (no corn)
1 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour (it’s better for your pet, but you can use white flour if you prefer)
1 cup of cornmeal
1/2 tsp. of garlic powder
3 Tbsp. olive oil
1- Mix the dry ingredients together with the olive oil and put them aside.
2- Mix the meat, eggs, and veggies together.
3- Blend the meat, eggs, and veggies together in a blender or food processor until mix well.
4- Stir in the dry ingredients to form a dough.
5- Roll out the dough until it is about 1/4″ thick.
6- Cut the dough into fun shapes if you wish. I used a star cookie cutter, but use whatever shape you like!
7- Bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes. Store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.
See? Super simple. And I know your dog will approve!
I hope you get the chance to try these treats out for your dog. It really made me feel good that I took the time to make a treat right from my very own kitchen for Rubie.
We have been working extremely hard the past few months branding our vision and making goals for ourselves. We took a few hours after our meeting on Monday to enjoy the beautiful scenery our city holds. We can’t wait to share with you our little secret! In the meantime, check out a few of our favorite pictures we took on our break in the city.
Boots are a favorite part of our wardrobe for fall. We love that there’s so many ways to wear them!
Bright colors are a fun way to transition your wardrobe from summer into fall. All you have to do is just add a few layers! It’s also fun to pair up old jewelry with new pieces, don’t you think?
Happy Birthday, Bethany! What a year it has been! A year living as roommates, starting our blog, and dreaming up big plans for the future. I am so thankful to have you in my life and be surrounded by your everyday encouragement and optimism. No matter what the situation is, you alway see the best in it. It’s something that I really admire in you.
And let’s not forget that sense of adventure! One of the things that I love most about you is that you’re so daring. You not only show your sense of adventure through your clothing, but also spontaneous trips and future plans for yourself. I love hearing what you’ve been dreaming up and the places you plan to go!
A girl full of whimsy and wonder, that’s what fits you best. Everyone, please wish Bethany a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! May all your dreams and wishes come true this year, B, you have many beautiful things headed your way.
About a month ago I was invited to go on a weekend trip along Highway 127 with friends. Of course, I couldn’t turn this amazing adventure down! We gathered up a few road trip necessities, and headed out on the road early one Saturday morning. It was so incredible to see miles upon miles of yard sales! Within minutes of stopping at the first place, I knew I was hooked for the next 48 hours. I never knew that so many people could come together for a weekend to sell so many unique treasures!
Check out some of the great deals below that I found along Highway 127. I can’t wait to check out next year!
1: $1.50- Small striped green glasses 2: $1.00- Plastic skeleton keys 3: $2.50- Thermos 4: $5.00- Tin canisters 5: $1.00- Embroidered frame 6: $15.00- 2 Pyrex bowls 7: $4.00- Pinocchio + Elvis records
I think my favorite find of the weekend had to be the two Pyrex bowls that I got both for $15! I’d been hoping for some for so long, so it made me so happy to finally find some for my home.
