Travel Photos: California Dreaming

I recently got back from a trip back to my hometown state, California.  It was incredibly beautiful & looking back at photos I can’t help to feel grateful for my wonderful family.  I spent as much time as I possibly could along the California coastline, soaking in the sunshine (with SPF 90+!) & watching my freckles multiply.  There’s something about the mystery of ocean that makes me stand in awe & truly appreciate this amazing life we’ve all been given.  I hope you enjoy I few snapshots from my adventures!

Btw… I think I love peacocks way too much & still can’t believe I got to hang out with some of these beautiful creatures. Xoxo’s!

DIY: Let’s Go Fly A Kite!

With summertime in full swing playtime in the sun is all that has been on my mind.

Kite flying is one of my most favorite things to do, so I thought it would be fun to make my own! This is a fun little project that can be enjoyed on a particularly breezy day (or in my case, a day of spins & twirls when there is no wind.)

Supplies Needed:

  • 2 small dowels
  • Fabric (I used vintage sheets!)
  • Electrical tape
  • No Sew Glue
  • Ribbon
  • Kite String

  1. Cut dowels down to 23″ by 30″
  2. Place the dowels in a cross shape & secure with electrical tape
  3. Loosely cut fabric out in a diamond shape around the dowels.
  4. Paint, write & decorate fabric as you please
  5. Place fabric over dowels & use no sew glue to secure ends while pulling the fabric taut
  6. Cut a small hole at each corner of the kite. Attach kite string width wise & length wise, joining in the middle.
  7. Attach flying string to the rest of the joining string.
  8. Attach (with electrical tape) ribbon to the bottom corner of the kite for the tail & add bows in desired places.

Up, up & away! You’re ready to fly your own one of a kind adorable kite!

Happy Flying!

Xoxo’s!

Adventures in Sewing

Welcome to my newly finished sewing nook!

It’s such a bright & sunny place in the house, it is going to be the perfect space for all the sewing projects I have planned in the upcoming months.

I’m teaching myself to sew from all of the vintage sewing books I’ve collected over the past year.  I know it will be challenging at times, but I’m really excited to start creating!

I’m challenging myself only to make & not to purchase any new clothes…. this should be interesting!

Take a look at some of the darling pictures that are in some of the books.  The style is so amazing & inspiring.

Can’t wait to share more of my adventures in sewing with you.

Wish me luck!  Any sewing words of wisdom?

Xoxoxo,

Bethany Rose (& Rosemary, too)
