Painted Lyric Curtains

Just a few months ago, I moved into a new house. It has been so fun to try and be truly creative with decor for each of the rooms. One thing that I fell in love with when I first walked into the home were the huge oversized windows. I knew that they would be a great source of natural lighting in the studio and bedroom, but I didn’t realize just how hard it would be to find curtains that I liked to cover them during the day. After thinking a couple of days, I finally decided to use my curtains from the old house, but change them up just a bit.

I’ve always been such a lover of song lyrics, so I decided this was my perfect opportunity to put a few in my room. I chose to paint the lyrics to “I Can See Clearly Now” because of the optimistic words that fill the song; having those lyrics be the words that fill my room when the sun shines through excites me!

The cost of supplies is extremely less than $15, such an inexpensive makeover!

Because I used a sponge brush instead of a paint brush, my brush strokes tended to stay rather large and created a big text across my curtains. If you wish to have a much smaller sized font, I would suggest using a very fine-tipped paintbrush.  I chose to do only two coats of paint to create a more of a graffitied look to my curtains. The more coats you paint, the smaller amount of light that will show through the painted letters which will create a more solid looking letter.

I think my favorite thing about the curtains is that during the day, the paint seems to be a rich grass green because of the lighting, and then at night, the color changes to a sea foam green. Funny how light changes things, huh?

I hope you give these curtains a try & they bring you a room full of happiness. My dog Rubie seems to like them a lot, too. 🙂

Love always,
Rosemary

DIY: [egg]spiration!

Hello, friends!

With Easter just around the corner, I wanted to do something for a few special people in my life letting them know how they inspire me and how thankful I am for them. I love writing cards to people, but I wanted to try something different this time around. That’s how I decided to send out messages in eggs! Check out the pictures below to see how to send out your own special messages to your friends and family!

These were so fun to do! Remember, there are tons of other fun things to mail as well– jars, oversized pill bottles, books with messages inside– so don’t limit yourself! You can even add little trinkets inside too to make it even more special.

Happy Easter!
